Hi everyone, I need advice on a situation that has really shaken me.
My husband and I live in the UK. I’m in the nursing field, working long shifts and picking up extra hours, while he works in IT. We have three children, so life is already demanding. We have both been intentional about saving and planning toward building a stable future for our family.
Recently, I discovered that he has been sending a large amount of money back to Nigeria without my knowledge. I initially assumed it was regular family support, but I later found out he has been funding the construction of a large house for his parents , something like a mansion.
I’m not upset about him supporting his parents, but I am deeply hurt that something this major was hidden from me. We have been making sacrifices here, raising three kids, and planning our future together, yet he made a huge financial commitment without involving me.
For me, this is more about trust, transparency, and partnership than the money itself.
I’m really saddened and I don’t even know how to confront him because I fear I might do something really crazy.
Has anyone dealt with something similar? How did you handle it?
