Bovi & Nomzamo Recreate the “Funke–Toyin” Snub at AMVCA 12

Heloo Nollywood fans… did you watch that moment?
One of the biggest talking points from the 12th AMVCA was the hilarious and slightly shady skit by Bovi and South African actress Nomzamo Mbatha.
During their hosting segment, the duo recreated the now-viral moment from The Return of Arinze premiere, where Funke Akindele allegedly appeared to snub Toyin Abraham on the red carpet.
The Skit That Had Everyone Talking
Nomzamo stepped into the role of “Aunty Funke,” while Bovi hilariously played Toyin Abraham.
The audience completely lost it when Bovi delivered the line:
“Aunty Funke… mtcheeww. If I ever present an award to you, call me bastard!”
The timing, facial expressions, and delivery had the entire hall reacting instantly.
Toyin Abraham’s Reaction
What made the moment even funnier was Toyin Abraham’s reaction.
Instead of looking offended, she was seen laughing hard in the audience and later joking with Bovi, saying:
“I knew you were going to crack that joke… it was funny.”
Safe to say she took it like a champ. 😂
Funke Akindele Stayed Silent
Interestingly, Funke Akindele didn’t publicly react to the skit during the ceremony, and fans online are already debating if the joke crossed the line or was simply harmless entertainment.
So… Was It Funny or Too Shady?
Some people are calling it one of the funniest AMVCA moments in recent years, while others think the hosts may have pushed the joke a little too far.
What do you think?
Was the skit all in good fun, or was it unnecessary shade on live TV?
